Florian Gerhold

Florian has worked at the institute since 10/2023. He started as a student project assistant, quickly finished his master’s thesis on stabilisation tamping, and then became a project assistant working on his PhD. His research focuses on optimising railway operations and infrastructure from an overall systemic perspective. This includes topics such as the cost of non-availability of track and how future infrastructure developement should be done depending on the intended service offerings. Additional topics include track loading over time and more general asset management issues such as standard elements.
