Vehicle-Track Interaction

Wear and damage processes of track components and the track system are triggered by wheel-to-rail forces. Axle loads, unsprung masses, applied traction forces, and friction processes mainly in curved tracks form these vehicle-specific forces. Based on different analytic wear-models, we investigate the effect of the load collectives on in-field measured and quantified wear. This Area of Research sets up on a long-lasting cooperation with SBB and its wear formula used for track access charges.
