Finally, on Friday 12th december 2025, the Koralm-link was opened. Stefan had the opportunity to follow the opening celebrations for the Koralmbahn in an unusual and exciting way: together with alumnus Matthias he was guest on the live broadcast by ORF Landesstudio Steiermark. It was fascinating to see how such live coverage works, and the professionalism and flexibility with which the team operates.
Once the dust had literally settled on the first Koralm Jet, an EBW team – Claudia, Markus, Tobias, Stefan – dashed off to Klagenfurt and back again Naturally, we paid particular attention to the areas of research relevant to our institute: the track alignment is a dream and the turnouts are barely noticeable.
