Our Team at CETRA 2026

From May 27th to 30th, 2026, four of our PhD students — Alex, Gerald, Precious, and Tobias — attended CETRA 2026 (9th International Conference on Road and Rail Infrastructure), held in the scenic town of Bol on the Island of Brač, Croatia. Organized by the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Civil Engineering, the visit aimed to gain insights into the conference world, network with international peers, and present their research to a professional audience.

The following presentations were given:

  • Precious: „Delay Trends in Rail Freight Transport due to Temporary Unavailability of Infrastructure“
  • Tobias: „From Track Geometry to Subsoil: A Signal Processing Approach to Substructure Condition Assessment“
  • Gerald: „Quantification and Assessment of Short-Wave Rail Corrugation“
  • Alex: „Detection of Maintenance Actions Based on Rail Wear Analysis“

All in all, participation in CETRA 2026 was a great success for the entire team. While Precious and Tobias took their first steps into the conference world, Alex and Gerald were able to build on their existing experience and make further valuable contributions to the field. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the organizers of CETRA for the chance to be part of this year’s conference.
