Mobility, Rails & Research — TRA 2026

The Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 brought together some of the brightest minds in transport researchand our team was part of it. From May 18th to 21st, 2026, Julia Egger, Alexander Plotho, and Dieter Knabl travelled to Budapest, Hungary, to present their latest research and engage with the international transport community at one of Europe’s largest conferences in the field.

The team contributed two posters:

  • Julia Egger: „Automating Signal Positioning for Enhanced Track Monitoring in Turnouts“
  • Dieter Knabl & Alexander Plotho: „The Role of Loading in Rail Damage Mechanisms — Developing a Wear Assessment Methodology from Empirical Data“

The four days in Budapest were filled with stimulating conversations, fresh perspectives, and valuable connections across the transport industry. Events like TRA remind us why sharing research beyond our own walls matters, and inspire us to keep pushing our work forward.
